In this class, students will have fun and make art using glossy fashion magazines. We’ll create collages that repurpose and respond to cut-out magazine images using scissors, scotch tape, and paint markers. We’ll also make two-sided puppets from magazine pages, then animate the puppets using students’ mobile phones. Finally, we’ll create colored-pencil drawings inspired by the late Helen Rae, who used fashion advertisements as a point of departure for otherworldly journeys.
